I have always had thick long and healthy until 4 years ago, my beautician noticed a small ball spot in the crown of my head. I also noticed a bald spot on each side of my temples. I am also going through menopause. Since my hair started to bald, I have been wearing my hair natural, I do not have a problem with my hair getting length, I have been trying to get the bald spots to fill in. I was wondering if this is a hereditary problem, because my father and some of the guys bald at a very young age. This is very depressing for me as a woman to be bald in the top of my head. I am going to forward some before and after pictures. Could you please give me some advice on this situation.
Hello Stephanie,
The distribution and pattern of the hair loss in the images you provided dose not completely match that which is usually seen in hereditary hormonal hair loss. While that might be a contributing factor, you could also be experiencing other types of hair loss such as Lichen Planopilaris (LPP) or Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (CCCA) for example. You will need to see a dermatologist in your area for medical diagnosis and a treatment plan could be determined after that.
