Hi Dr. Weaver,
I have been struggling with issues involving my scalp since I was a teenager which has been about a 15 year journey for me. I have never recieved professional help b/c I did not know where to turn to. My hairdresser was always perplexed as to why there was a bald/thin patch at the top of my head and I felt that this was an issue only I had. I remember as a teenager being mortified that I had 1/2 a centimeter of hair growth at the top of my head and my solution was to hide it. Now as an adult, there is more information regarding black hair but sadly I am sill at lost as to what to do. I have tried shampoos, creams, and oils and nothing seems to help. I have also researched everything from secret oils like gro-aut to using products made for horses. From reading you website I believe that I have both traction alopecia as well as neurodermatitis. I do not believe I have scaring yet, and hair grows there but it is always broken off (likely from the intense itch that I scratch). It is not just issue, it also feels tendure and sore to the touch. I am at my wits end and I have no idea what to do. What products can I use to see a difference? I currently like in the Washington D.C./Maryland area. After reading your website I realize that I do need professional help. Do you know of any dermatolist practitioners in this area that are an authority on black scalp issues the way that you are? Any help at all would mean to so much!
